Abstract

Previous evidence demonstrates that doctoral students are at a significantly higher risk of developing poor mental health, due to their supervisory relationships. In addition, there may be other factors that contribute to this heightened risk. For example, work overload, financial constraints, procrastination, low self-esteem, fear of failure, lack of motivation, communication challenges, and lack of confidence. And for some doctoral students living with mental illness, there is fear of stigma in self-disclosure.
