Abstract

This report examine the small loans market (loans of less than €2,000) in the Republic of Ireland and the role of credit unions in serving this market. The report offers international comparisons, evaluates commercial viability, assesses the views of credit unions and stakeholders and offers recommendations. The research comprised interviews with credit unions and stakeholders in the Republic of Ireland, USA, Canada and Great Britain, a review of market data and literature, and economic analysis using CUFA Ltd data
